Hello Beauties,

Today’s blog is a bit personal, but it also talks about makeup. I’ll start off with the personal as it relates to the skirt I am wearing in the photographs below.

This skirt has played a vital role in my journey and transformation as a dancer, makeup artist, cultural explorations, and my spiritual life. The Puerto Rican day parade, SCAN NYC Dance Co, The Repertory Dance Co of East Harlem, Ailey Camp, performed for Mayor Dinkins, President Clinton, and many  church functions are just some of the situations in which this skirt has been and now a part of A Dwelling at the Waterfront (photoshoot).

As for makeup, the shoot required simple make up. I used MAC Fluid line gel liner to create a winged liner on the eyes, and used a blend of MAC lipsticks in Orange and Lady Danger to make the perfect tangerine pout. This color was specifically chosen based on the artboard sketches and shoot styling to create contrast between plum jacket and

dark-green forest in Harrisburg, PA.

It was an amazing experience: I felt as though I was back on stage dancing. I always wanted to capture the skirt in a timeless manner to preserve its essence and meaning to me therefore, a photoshoot with shodiphoto was a perfect idea.  And yes, I felt as good as I looked!
