20 Jan Dr G’s Makeup Workshop
Hey Everyone, here is a photographic journey of a recent makeup workshop that I held. This was a beginner’s workshop in which I taught basic smoke eye application, as well as an introduction to eyes/lips/face makeup techniques. The workshop consisted of games, prizes, makeup demonstration, and some delectable wine and cheese 🙂
This was the setup. (left) Dr G poses in the MakeupbyDrG director’s chair with one of her favorite Sigma brushes. (right top). The table was prepped with necessary products for the demonstration, products for attendees to sample, business cards, and of course giveaway bags for attendees. (right bottom) Each attendee received a folder with face charts, notes section, game sheets, and feedback form.

Always remember to set your makeup for a long lasting look.
Game Time: (Top) 10 minute smoke eye battle: These ladies created a smoke eye based on the demonstration; the catch: no mirror, just the direction of an assigned partner! (Bottom) : Sampling makeup products and techniques
The Face Off: 10 minute smoke eye challenge: Each contestant did their own smoke eye based on what they learned from the demonstration. Who won?
Before & After: Elements of her smoke eye include MAC eyeshadows and fluid line in blacktrack, Milani Liquid Eye Liquid-Like Eye Liner (smudge-free and has amazing staying on power-up to 24 hours!) and False lashes. Face: Smashbox HD Foundation, MAC Minerlize Skinfinish Natural Powder, Milani Illuminating Face Powder (a lightweight multicpolored powder used as a highlighter/bronzer/blusher to give a healthy glow) and a blend of MAC and NARS blushes for cheek and contour. Lips: MAC Viva Glam V lipstick and Viva Glam VI gloss. This look can be paired with a red lip for a more dramatic effect. And she feels as good as she looks 🙂
*note all products used were not listed
TIP: Always remember to use a primer for eye and face makeup application. Your skin will thank you 20 years from now.
Check out a few clips from the workshop!
Special thank you to Milani Cosmetics for providing sponsoring products and shodiphoto for photographing the event 🙂

Posted at 18:38h, 23 JanuaryDr G can you please recommend a lightweight non greasy powder or liquid foundation that I can wear on my dark brown skin in warm weather? I live in Arizona and the air is dry however I still end up looking like a grease monkey when its hot due to my combination skin. I’m looking for full coverage. And do you suggest I wear concealer? I like to wear minimal make up but I want the most coverage.

Posted at 18:45h, 23 JanuaryDr G. What mascara do you recommend as the best for length and volume? My lashes are pretty long but I’m greedy and want them to look longer and fuller.

Posted at 18:51h, 23 JanuaryRacquel, For a lightweight powder, I recommend MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural. For foundations, I suggest having a consultation to see what foundation works best for your skin. As for mascara, I am a huge fan of Maybelline mascaras because they amplify lashes. hope that helps 🙂
