26 Jun Oily Skin Summer Remedy
Hello beauties! It’s officially the summer and although there are several skin concerns for summer, one very important one is: Extra oily skin. Hot air and humidity can really wreak havoc causing excess sweat on oil prone skin, particularly combination skin. Combination skin experiences both dryness and oiliness, with the latter usually being in your T-zone (forehead, nose, and sometimes chin).
Here are some tips and products that I recommend to keep oily skin looking fresh and shine free:
- Avoid over-cleansing because that can cause moisture loss and overproduction of oil. Recommendation: Wash face twice a day with a gentle oil controlling cleanser
- Exfoliate once or twice a week to get rid of buildup, dead skin cells, dirt, and oil. Dead skin and clogged pores contribute to more flakes and oil production. After exfoliating, use a masque because it helps to draw out any excess oil, thereby controlling the shine.
- Lighten up your makeup routine by using a tinted moisturizer (that contains SPF) instead of foundation. Tinted moisturizers are lightweight and won’t clog pores like foundation tends to in the summer. They provide the suncreen, moisture, and hint of color all in one. Avoid putting excess moisturizer in oil-prone areas such as your t-zone. Dr. G personal tip: fluff oil blotting powder (or mattifying powder) on the face after applying tinted moisturizer. This helps to absorb oil. Hello tinted moisturizer, good bye weighed down face 🙂
After cleansing, I use these products when I’m on the go…

Posted at 21:34h, 26 JuneOh yes and I forgot to chime in about oily skin. Milk of magnesia works for me. I apply a thin coat before apply make up. It works better than everything else I’ve ever tried and trust me I tend to look like a grease ball in the heat.
