21 Mar Rochelle’s Destination Wedding | Negril Beach, Jamaica
Hey Beauties!
Meet Rochelle, the Jamaican Beauty who hired us for her destination wedding in Negril, Jamaica at Idle Awhile Villas. When I first learned of Rochelle’s wedding, she had already been booked by my husband, Ade Oshodi Photographer for wedding photography. Although she had previously booked a makeup artist in Jamaica, she decided to cancel that makeup artist and hire me due to the reputation of Ade & Gina.
During Rochelle’s trial, I was able to examine her skin, which was combination oily. I recommended a regimen of exfoliating her face and neck twice a week to get rid of dead skin cells and moisturizing daily to maintain hydrated skin. Simple skincare routines as such are important for maintaining flawlessly fresh skin on a continuum.
For Rochelle’s bridal makeup, we decided on pink shadows with metallic lids to make the eyes pop. We used various shades of Black Opal True Color Stick creme foundation for all over, highlight and contour. This is a staple foundation of my kit because it’s buildable (from medium to full coverage), has SPF 15 (UVA/ UVB protection against free radical skin damage is a must), and can be used on a variety of skin types. Historically, With women of color, 3-4 foundation shades are needed to get their perfect match, and these Black Opal Foundations offer that. Ardell Demi Lashes were applied to give her natural lashes fullness and extension. Lips were a combination of pinks (MAC Show Orchid and Creme de la Femme), and MAC’s Plum lip liner. Cheeks were highlighted with Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfecter in Champagne Pop (one of my favorite highlights for a sun-kissed glow).
For the bridesmaids, we focused on sun-kissed skin (using various shades of Black Opal creme stick foundation and MAC Bronzing Powder in Matte Bronze, and MAC Gold Deposit Pressed Powder). The bridesmaids also applied gold flash tats to their arms. This shimmering accessory was a perfect addition to the beach wedding ambiance. Their palette consisted of soft pinks to compliment their stunning dresses.
Beauty Tip: To avoid breakthrough shine in a summer wedding, moisturize the face with an oil free lotion, apply a mattifying primer prior to foundation, and finish the look with translucent blotting powder to absorb oil and mattify the skin.
My favorite mattifying primer is Makeup Forever’s Step 1 Skin Equalizer Primer.
Some of my favorite powders include:
Makeup Forever HD Microfinish Powder
MAC Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder (Pressed or Loose)
Rochelle looked sensational and her dress was just as great! I’m so glad to have been the key makeup artist for her destination wedding.
