Hey beauties, meet Shanna, a friendly New York attorney who recently got married to her long term sweetheart at the Coral House in Long Island, NY.
Shanna initially hired me for her engagement photo session, where we chose a natural glowing look to match the summery feel of her photoshoot. She and her fiancé were so thrilled by her makeup, that I was immediately booked as Shanna’s wedding day makeup artist. The great thing about doing makeup for engagement shoots is that it can serve as a makeup trial run for the bride. In the weeks leading up to the wedding, Shanna got her skin camera ready by doing weekly exfoliations using Artistry Polishing Scrub. This helps rid the face of dry, dead skin.
On the day of Shanna’s wedding, I arrived to the hotel with my assistant, and immediately went to work! Shanna has normal skin, so her face was prepped using Embryolisse Lait Creme and Makeup Forever Step 1 primer. Due to the pigmentation under her eyes and around her lips, I used a peach corrector from MAC, then applied and blended Black Opal Creme stick foundation all over her face. The foundation was set with MAC Mineralized Skinfinish natural powder in Dark.
Her freshly groomed brows were brushed and filled in using MAC spiked retractable pencil liner. Her eyelids were prepped with MAC Painterly paint pot, then applied a mix of eyeshadow shades from MAC, including Sable, Brown Script, Carbon, and All that Glitters, and finished with Inglot Black Gel Liner and Ardell Whispies natural strip lashes.
Shanna’s cheeks were highlighted with MAC Gold Deposit, lightly contoured with MAC blunt blush, and a coral blush for the cheeks. On her lips, Estee Lauder Pure Color Longlasting Lipstick in Rose Tea, and MAC lipgloss in Richer Lusher. To set her entire face, MAC Fix + was sprayed all over.
Shanna’s lovely sister, Sherece was the maid of honor. Since Sherece has adult hormonal acne, she did weekly exfoliations and masks to cleanse her pores and prevent buildup of acne, She saw little improvement in her skin condition, so her prep for the wedding day was aimed at reducing inflammation. Her face was cleansed then moisturized with Embryolisse Hydra Mat Creme. Face was primed with Cover FX Mattifying Primer with anti-acne treatment to help reduce shine and any inflammation that was present.
MAC studio fix concealer was applied to Sherece’s hyperpigmentation spots, then Black Opal foundation was blended all over her face. Her foundation was set with MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural in Deep Dark. On her cheeks, NARS Exhibit A blush, MAC Gold Deposit and MAC Blunt blush. On her lips, MAC lipstick in Red. Since she has oily skin, Her face was set with MAC Prep and Prime Blotting Powder.
