01 Feb Simply Elegant Bridal Makeup with Red Velvet Lips
Hey Beauties,
Here is a behind the scenes look of the makeup I did for a recent bridal shoot with Ade Oshodi and model Angela. For this shoot, we chose a simple, elegant look.
For Angela’s eyes, I used the following eyeshadows to create a natural blend: MAC Cosmetics All That Glitters, Soft Brown, Brule, and Rice Paper. MAC eyeshadows are highly pigmented and blend well, making them my go-to shadows for brides. Always remember, for long-lasting eyeshadow, use a primer. Primers also give a pop to the color.
Using MAC Cosmetics Blacktrack Fluid-line Gel Liner, I created a sleek line across her lashline. The goal was to keep the eye liner subtle. Afterall, how many brides do you know choose a dramatic winged liner on her wedding day? To give her lashes a naturaluy full appearance with no clumps, I opted for my favorite mascara, Maybelline VOLUMEXPRESS Mascara in Very Black . This is a great alternative for the bride who does not want to wear faux lashes on her big day. If you are a sucker for weddings like I am, you would benefit from this WATERPROOF false lash glam in a tube.
Since the skin over Angela’s chin and jaw srea are dry, and normal to dry at the t-zone, I used Cetaphil moisturizer followed by Benefit Primer to prep her face. Artistry Hydrating Foundation was the FOC (foundation of choice). As an Artistry consultant, I reach for this foundation when I have clients with non-combination skin. It’s a buildable formula with hydrating and moisturizing properties. Like most women, Angela required two shades of foundation to balance her hyperpigmented areas. To set her face, I used Ben Nye Banana Power and MAC Cosmetics Mineralize Skinfinish Natural Powder.
For Angela’s cheeks and countour, I use Benefit Coralista Blush and NARS Orgasm blush. To give her lips a pop of color, I chose a semi-matte creme red finish, by Wet n Wild Cosmetics (color: 910D Red Velvet). Always remember, prior to applying matte lipstick, make sure that your lips are well exfoliated and conditioned for a smooth kissable lipstick finish 🙂
Oh, Guess who styled Angela’s hair? Yours Truly 🙂
